Hi, i’m Giana!

Sunshine Roots Doula Care began as a dream in 2016, and in 2025, that dream is finally coming to life.

I am a mom of three, a wife, an animal lover, a school counselor, and now your postpartum doula. In the spring of 2025, I completed a postpartum doula training course through DONA International. Beyond formal training, I bring years of hands on experience supporting friends and family through their postpartum journeys, along with over 11 years of infant care.

With an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, a bachelor’s in Human Development, and a master’s in School Counseling, I feel uniquely equipped to offer support, empathy, and advocacy that helps families feel grounded rather than lonely or disconnected.

The name Sunshine Roots, is inspired by my lifelong love of sunflowers, a flower that, for as long as I can remember, has brought me peace, comfort, and a sense of steady calm. Sunflowers turn toward the light, grow toward warmth, and stand tall even through changing seasons. Those qualities reflect exactly how I hope families feel when I walk into their home: supported, grounded, and gently guided toward brighter moments.

My husband and I share a special annual tradition of planting giant sunflowers along our driveway. They’ve become a symbol of joy and resilience in our home a bright greeting for anyone who visits. Our tallest sunflower grew to 10 feet high, and watching them rise each year continues to amaze me. Their presence reminds me how powerful it is to nurture something with intention, patience, and care, the same energy I bring into my work with families.

My passion for supporting postpartum families began after the birth of my first child, a preemie, in 2016. That experience showed me how vulnerable and overwhelming the fourth trimester can be. Welcoming a new baby should be met with joy, love, rest, community support, and warm, nourishing meals, all the things I longed for during each of my three postpartum experiences.

I am honored and excited to support families throughout Dutchess, Putnam, and parts of Westchester County. I believe everyone deserves compassionate, accessible postpartum care, regardless of race, religion, beliefs, spirituality, gender, or sexuality. My hope is that Sunshine Roots Doula Care becomes a beacon of warmth for every family I serve, much like the sunflowers that have always grounded and inspired me.
